Carolina Beach is located on a slip of land called Pleasure Island about 30 minutes south of downtown Wilmington off of Carolina Beach Road. Laid back and friendly, this iconic beach town will bring back memories of the good ‘ol days. The town has about 5,000 year-round residents and a family atmosphere with a vintage 1950s feel. The Carolina Beach boardwalk, which highlights arcades and shops selling ice cream, fudge and beach toys, is a lively spot in the summer as is the lake in the town center where pedal boat rentals are available. 

Enjoy gorgeous beaches, live music and nightlife, great fresh seafood, numerous restaurants offering upscale and simple fare, fantastic fishing and a state aquarium.  Plus, find all of the modern day conveniences of grocery stores, drugstores, beach shops and boutiques, hardware and variety stores, and even bait shops. The beachfront motels, including several on Ft. Fisher, offer a welcome blast from the past.

This down to earth beach town also features beautiful nature.  Hike miles of sandy trails through maritime forest at Carolina State Park while taking in panoramic views of coastal paradise. Watch out for the carnivorous Venus flytraps, the plants grow wild here! Freeman Park is also a favored spot for surf fishing, camping and four-wheeling on the shore of the Atlantic Ocean.
